12 Days Of Christmas Self Care Ideas.
Holiday season is around the corner. Most of us wait for Christmas the whole year (also shop for the Christmas long before Christmas arrives haha, I am sure you do too).
But with excitement, pressure and social anxiety comes too in the social gathering and to manage that, you have to check in with your self care routine.
But first thing first, let’s talk about The Most Common Question That People Ask:
What Should I Do If I’m Going To Be Alone For Christmas ?
While Christmas is often seen as a time to gather with family and friends, exchange gifts, bake cookies and have dinner together. But if you are alone this Christmas it shouldn’t mean you can’t have fun by yourself.
You can still light some candles and decorate your house.
You can still arrange video calls with your family and/or friends to have some chitchats.
If you are alone at home but don’t want to spend all day in your home, go out and volunteer and you’ll meet some great people to talk to and maybe you could make new friends.
If I am alone for Christmas, I would probably make or order my favorite dish and enjoy it with my favorite TV show.
It depends on what you like personally.
And I want to remind you that if you feel lonely this holiday season, I am here to chit chat with you, hit me up on X, join our facebook group, or contact me here. I will always reply.
Enough Talking, Let’s Talk About 12 Days Of Christmas Self Care Ideas
1) Create a Festive Environment
Whether you are alone or with family, creating a festive environment is a must. You can use seasonal decorations like colorful lights, garlands, wreaths, and themed ornaments.
Growing up, I have never been able to do these things as much as I wanted to but I am changing this slowly and not missing out on an opportunity to celebrate festivals and ultimately on life. These moments matter a lot.
2) Pick Some Holiday Movies + Some Hot Chocolate
I may not be the right person for movie recommendations as I mostly have a few favorites that I watch over and over again. They make me feel comfortable and give me great vibes plus if I have some hot chocolate, it is like a cherry on top and I love it.
You can also pick your favorite Movies or TV shows and enjoy cozy vibes with hot chocolate.
3) Boost Your Mood With Christmas Music
Create a playlist. Decide if you want an upbeat and energetic vibe or a more relaxed, cozy feel.
For parties or gatherings, energetic tunes might work well. For more intimate or quiet vibes, slower versions of holiday classics can be the right choice.
That depends on what you want to do and feel.
4) Festive Skincare
The season is changing and most of us are experiencing dry skin more. Most likely your summer skincare routine might not work well in this winter season.
So, use a moisturizer that hydrates your skin well.
I am currently using CeraVe skin moisturizer (for dry skin), they have one for oily skin too. I am loving it.
5) Be In The Present Moments
When you are celebrating Christmas with family, friends or even by yourself Instead of being distracted or thinking about other things, being present means you’re really there, paying attention and creating memories.
It’s about enjoying the moments as they happen, which makes them more special and meaningful.
6) Post Christmas Journaling
I am more of a shy and introverted person. I like being cozying up in my blanket and having some scented candles around. What could be better than to reflect on Christmas and write down some things like:
- 1) What was the best part of this Christmas?
- 2) How did I feel throughout the holiday season?
- 3) Something that you’re grateful for this holiday.
- 4) Write down three new things you appreciated this year.
And anything that is in your mind.
7) Unwind + Take A Walk Outside
If you are feeling anxious (it happens sometimes after the festive season), It is a perfect idea to go take a walk outside in a park or garden.
A walk in nature will help you clear your head and reduce some stress, giving you a break from any worries or tasks on your mind.
8) Sit By The Fireplace & Eat Some Comfort Food
Eating your favorite comfort food, whether it’s soup, hot chocolate, or a hearty meal, gives you warmth from the inside and can give you a sense of coziness and contentment. I love it.
9) Turn Off Socials For Some Time
Without distractions from your phone, you can focus more on what’s happening around you, enjoying real-life moments and conversations.
Even if you start with taking a break from your social media for just 2 hours per day.
You will notice how much you were missing real life moments.
10) Create a Vision Board For The New Year
When I talk about vision boards, most people think that vision boards are only created for career goals but it’s far from the truth.
You can create a vision board on any area of your life that you want to improve and upgrade. I have shared 7 types of vision board you can create this year in 2025.
11) Take A Look Back To Reflect (But Don’t Get Stuck In It).
There must be ups and downs, success and failures in these past 12 months, you can reflect back on everything and write down the lessons you have learned.
If you need help, here are some of the questions to ask yourself before the new year.
12) Welcome New Year With An Open Arm And The Right Mindset
It’s okay to not achieve all your 2024 goals, I haven’t achieved them all either. I am pretty sure there must be some GREAT achievements this year that you are proud of. Maybe you graduated, passed a driving test, traveled to somewhere you loved, got a dream job?
It is okay to embrace those and not worry about the ones that are left behind.
You can start fresh and achieve GREAT things in this upcoming year, welcome the new year with your open arms and the right mindset.
