10 Mindful Evening Routine Ideas to Unwind After a Long Day
1) Taking a Walk
It’s normal to feel exhausted after sitting at your desk for eight hours straight (It’s even more for some of us). Many of us go from working at a desk to sitting in front of the TV watching Netflix, which means our bodies hardly get any movement. As a result, we often feel tired and stiff.
Walking is a great way to stay active and it actually improves your mood. While you are walking, you can think about your day, listen to music, a podcast, or just focus on your steps and do nothing at all.
2) Head To The Park
Another feel-good evening routine idea is to head to the park. Even if you are an introvert like me, there’s something good about parks that I can go alone and sit for about an hour and observe your surroundings, inhale fresh air and let things be as they are.
It is a good activity if your mind constantly runs from one activity to another. We work from my mind all the time but we hardly give it time to work on itself. We all need some free time to process things.
4) Make A Dinner Plan With Friends
As much as I love having my comfort meal by myself, I also love chit chatting over dinner with some of my friends. You can have great conversation and food. These types of meetups are often great for de-stressing and refreshing your mind. If you haven’t been doing it, you may want to try it and I am sure you’ll love it!
3) Enjoy The Sunset
The prettiest things in life are FREE and we need to experience and appreciate them more whether it’s fresh air, trees, morning grass, sunrise and sunset. There is so much to be grateful for.
Enjoy the sunset when you can.
I often think that Isn’t it beautiful that nature tells us when to start and when is the time to wind up? I guess we just need to listen more to it.Â
5) Attend A Comedy Show
That’s what I did a couple of days ago. It was fun and I think we need to go more to comedy shows and concerts. I have spent way too much of my time at home but these days I am spending my free time outdoors and I’m loving it so far.Â
6) Play Any Sports
Oh well, this one can be fun even if you are not used to playing any sports or if it’s been a while. You can start with dancing, swimming, joining a sports club or anything you prefer.Â
7) Create Your Own Outdoor Space
There are also days when you don’t wish to go outside and prefer your comfort and safe place all by yourself, in this case you can create your own outdoor space in your yard or garden and do some mindful activities.Â
All you need is a comfortable blanket, pillows for making your space cozy, warm clothes, Multipurpose outdoor lights if needed.
- Here are a few activities to enjoy in your yard:
- 1) Quiet reading.
- 2) Simple Drawing or any expressive activity.
- 3) Some snacks and music
- 4) Or just do nothing at all.
8) Bonfire Time
A bonfire under the stars makes for a peaceful and magical evening. No bonfire is complete without s’mores! Bring marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate or anything you like.
9) Outdoors Photography
Looking for a new outdoor activity? Outdoor photography is something to give a try! As we are in the fall season, there’s so much to capture and explore. But I believe you could definitely find something in your surroundings and have some great time.Â
10) Enjoy Stargazing!
Stargazing reminds you of the beauty in simplicity, the importance of taking some peaceful time for yourself. And don’t forget to Bring a light jacket or shawl for when temperatures drop after sunset.
FINAL NOTES- Those were some outdoor evening routine ideas that I hope you liked. It’s crucial for our overall well being to go outside and perform some feel-good activities. It doesn’t mean how much time you spend outside as long as you maintain a consistent routine and follow it.
