Fall Hobbies To Feel Yourself Again (Let This Autumn Inspire You)

If you are anything like me, fall season feels very special- when it starts to get chilly, you get out your cozy blanket and sweater, hot summer days are finally over and all you see is beautiful and colorful fall leaves outside.

All of these somehow lifts me up – the air is just so good for a walk outside.

If anything, fall teaches us that letting go can be beautiful too.

If there is a perfect season – it has to be a cozy fall season, right?

And when you are already feeling good and inspired – it is also a great time to get yourself into some hobbies especially if you worked hard during summer – it is your time to practice something that brings you happiness – and overall just enjoy this pretty season.

Fall Hobbies To Feel Yourself Again

1) Make your pumpkin-spiced own fall candle

Craft as a hobby is in trend all the time and I really believe that when we make something ourselves – it somehow becomes more special. Of course store bought ones are great and you don’t have to completely stop buying those – if you love them.

Making your own is an experience and it is not just to get the “end” result, it is more for enjoying the process.

PS – I am in the process of starting a site that will cover these topics (DIYing), you will get to know about it soon.

2) Watercolor Painting

Watercolor is one of my childhood hobbies and as I am getting older, I am getting less and less time to practice it but I love it and hopefully will get back to it soon. It is a great hobby idea for anyone who finds calmness in colors like I do.

You could also just think about what you loved to do as a kid but because you now have a full time job with many other responsibilities, you can’t follow it anymore and start there.

3) Scrapbooking

Scrapbooking is a great idea for someone who loves to keep memories and cherish them later especially if you are a newly wed, mom, or anyone who is in their personal growth journey and celebrating any major life event (we can all find something in our lives), scrapbooking is perfect for you to organize your emotions and keep your memories alive forever.

4) Knitting or Crocheting

Winter is coming up and now is the perfect time to start Knitting or Crocheting – my mom is really good at it but I have yet to learn it. If you love repetitive motions and are an introvert – you can just do this while you’re binge watching your favorite fall movies/tv shows.

5) Get into slow yoga

Slow yoga is something we can all benefit from – most of us are living a fast paced lifestyle and working overtime is not uncommon anymore. We hardly get time to slow down, but to function properly – we must slow down and take some time for ourselves.

Here are a few posts I believe you would benefit from – 10 Slow Living Tips: How To Embrace Slow Living.

6) Cook Fall Recipes

If you find comfort in flour, spice, and warmth, cooking and baking can be a perfect fall hobby idea for you – include more seasonal items in your cooking and try cooking a meal that you haven’t before.

You could try making more cozy soups, include more pumpkin and apple in your meals and get cozy – doesn’t that sound like a perfect me-time?

7) Try Indoors Gardening

I think this one is great if you are healing from something – yes  because not only do they look great, have some great benefits but they also teach us a lot – watching your plants grow over weeks makes you feel great – it teaches you to be patient, calm, and hopeful.

It’s a quiet, mindful hobby that doesn’t overstimulate.

Here are a few plants you can grow – indoors.

1) Snake Plant (Sansevieria):  they are great for – endurance and air purification.

  • These are very common – requires  low-maintenance and  you will have to water less frequently as temps drop. Great for low light indoor corners.

2) ZZ Plant: this plant represents inner strength and resilience.

  • Also requires low-maintenance, it is very tolerant to lower light and irregular watering – great if you have a busy lifestyle.

3) Pothos: Represents letting go and renewal.

  • They trail beautifully which can be aesthetically pleasing – Can be propagated in jars during fall season.

4) Peace lily: Represent peace and healing.

  • Calming white blooms are great for your meditation space. Keep them away from cold drafts.

If you rather want to grow herbs indoors , here are some ideas –

  • Rosemary – Mental clarity, protection.
  • Sage – Cleansing, wisdom.
  • Thyme – Courage, resilience.
  • Mint – Refreshing, mood-lifting.
  • Lavender – Calm, emotional healing (my personal favorite).

8) Start a personal diary

Fall represents letting go and when you are in a phase of life when letting go something becomes necessary, it comes with many challenges  – emotional challenges are something that needs to be regulated at this time and that is where keeping a personal diary can be useful.

You can write about your day – you see what keeps triggering you, what you crave, what drains you. It is to understand yourself better and deeply.

9) Get into reading – without rushing

I am definitely not one of those who can read 10+ books a month – I like to read them and enjoy them slowly even when I finish 1-2 a month, I am usually happy with it.

And if you are like this, it’s normal. Reading is not just about just reading at the end of the day – it is also about being cozy, enjoying books, learning something from them and applying those teachings to our lives.

10) Get into paper crafts

Paper crafts are more than just a kid’s activity. I am getting into this hobby this year (and you will see my crafts soon), here are a few crafts you can make –

DIY Envelopes & Stationery Sets – it can be personalize letters, invitations, or thank-you notes.

Gift Tags, Boxes, and Bags – handmade gift wrap is stunning and memorable.

Paper Flower Bouquets – these are long-lasting alternatives to real ones and can be centerpieces or wrapped for gifting.

Handmade Greeting Cards – which are perfect for birthdays, holidays, and weddings.

Paper Wreaths and so much more.

Those were 10 fall hobbies to feel yourself and let your inner child have some fun. Let me know which one on the list is your favorite and what are you planning to do this fall.
