Are you ready to make big changes in your life in 2025? Try these 20 good new year goals.
This year I am taking it differently and I am here to share how and what I am going to do.
If you have been setting goals like “lose 20 lbs” or “grow my income”, these goals are great for knowing what you want but these aren’t specific.
These goals also don’t tell you what you need to do today.
This year we will be working on specifics and habits so we can sustain our good habits and achieve our goals.
If that sounds good to you, let’s start.
20 Good New Year Goals To Level Up This Year
1) Limit Intake Of Processed Sugar
I know if you have a sweet tooth, it might not be easier for you. That’s why I said the word limit, if you already consume refined sugar everyday, you can try limiting that to only two days a week.
2) Keep Yourself Hydrated
As we are already in the winter season, it’s normal to not pay much attention to your water intake but it’s still important that you keep yourself hydrated.
You can also opt for herbal teas, warm water with lemon, or light broths to keep yourself warm and hydrated.
We don’t want our goals to be boring after all. Find ways to make them fun and interesting.
3) Eating Right Food
They say it’s easier to replace your bad habits with good ones instead of trying to quit your old ones
Healthy goals aren’t all about being in a certain shape. It’s all about providing the right right fuel to your body so it works the way it’s supposed to work- at least that’s how I am seeing it right now.
Take your vitamins, include fruits and veggies in your diet.
4) Track Your Macros
To keep in check with your protein, carbs and fiber intake, you can use an app to make sure you are meeting your daily goals.
There are many out there like myfitness pal is a popular one. I am currently using Fitatu only because it is much easier to use comparatively.
5) Try a Few Different Physical Activities Every Month
Whether it’s yoga, Pilates, or hiking, challenge yourself with a new workout each month. Try new things until you find out what you love doing and want to continue with.
To Take Care Of Your Mind
1) Work Out At Least 3x/week
I have added this step in mind section for a reason. Workout is great for staying fit physically there is no doubt about that but it also has great mental benefits too.
If you have a pretty busy schedule and can’t make it to the gym for some reason, you can still workout at home. Let’s start with what you have now.
2) Learn To See The Positive Side Of A Situation
These goals are hard. These will take time and patience to become a habit. So it’s okay if you fail once or twice or many times. Just remember why you started and what will happen when you achieve your end goal. That big picture will work as a fuel that inspires you to keep trying one more time.
That’s the reason I recommend creating a vision board of your end goal. That helps.
3) Make a 15 Mins Morning Routine
No matter where you are in your stage of life- whether you are a college going, working professional or a full time mother, it’s hard to take out some morning time for yourself. That’s why you can start with 15 minutes. I believe it’s doable for most of us (if not all).
4) Go Out When You Can To Reset Yourself
This goal is even more important if you work from home. It’s easy to spend a solid 8 hours in front of a laptop, repeating this routine daily is not ideal for your body. I know it’s hard. I am also currently working on this one too.
5) Check In With Your Daily Steps
Another personal goal of mine that I am sharing with you all. I am making myself walk after every meal for 15 minutes. If you are in an office, I believe you can do this too. Make small changes and they will pay off later.
To Work On Your Financials
1) Keep Learning To Stay Relevant
Almost every industry is evolving pretty fast and we must adapt to that. Whether you are an employee or have your own small business, we must learn how to stay relevant and even grow further.
I have taken many courses from Skillshare to keep learning and advancing my skills. If you don’t want to be left behind this year, invest in yourself and improve your skills with Skillshare.

2) Start A Side Project
If you have a certain income goal and you want to reach that this year and you can’t save that much from your current paycheck, this is the time to think about something else like starting a side project that you can do with your current job.
For example-
- 1) Starting an Etsy shop
- 2) Starting a blog
- 3) Starting Freelance (where you can monetize your current skill).
And so much more.
3) Read One Career-Related Book Every Month
The more you know, the more confident you become in handling new tasks or roles and don’t forget to create a cozy nook.
4) Keep A Budget And Do Your Best To Follow It
Money may not be able to buy all the happiness in the world but if you sort out your finances, you will most likely be able to sleep peacefully at night where you won’t have to worry about groceries for the next week.
That’s why I recommended starting a new project this year and keeping a budget so you not only know how much you are making but also how much you are spending so you can make better plans for yourself.
5) Talk To People And Network
Since starting this blog, I have come to realize that it’s so important to connect and collaborate with other bloggers so I can learn and share our experiences with each other.
Regardless of the industry you are in, if you can’t find any in-person workshops, why not search for facebook groups and hang out there?
Other Goals To Try This Year
1) Learn a New Music Instrument
2) Learn a New Language
3) Make Your House Home
4) Cook a New Recipe From Another Country On Sunday.
And that’s about it. Those were some good new year goals that you can set for yourself and level up your life.
