Are you looking forward to starting journaling this new year? I have got some beginners friendly new year journal prompts for you for success.
With these prompts you can reflect back on the last year, make plans for this year and make sure you are in the right direction.
What Are Journal Prompts?
Journal prompts are questions that basically guide you to focus on one thing so you can write about that without getting distracted.
If you often stare at a blank page, journal prompts are great for you whether you are a beginner or someone who has been journaling for a while.
New Year Journal Prompts For Success
1) Reflect On Your Last Year’s Goals And Results
Did you set goals for yourself last year? If it is written somewhere, go back to them and see how you did. Did you set out way too many goals for you or were you thoughtful about that? It’s a good idea to go back to them again so when you set goals for yourself this year, you won’t repeat the same mistakes.
2) What 3 things went right last year?
There must be some things that you did right that gave you results, think about those things and write them down so you can again learn what you can do this year to get the results you want.
3) What 3 decisions went wrong last year?
When we make decisions, some go right while others go wrong. That’s how it works, doesn’t it? It’s okay if you make those decisions, we all make wrong decisions in our lives but it’s good to see what they are so you can work on avoiding them in the future.
4) What Changes I Need To Make This Year?
There are some areas of our lives that need more attention than others. It is often different for everyone. What is it for you? It could be health, personal growth (some health or mindset shift maybe), career, relationships or even self care related.
Perform a life audit to figure out what area of your life needs more attention.
5) How do I want to feel at the end of this year, and what habits will help me get there?
I know a few years back I wanted to feel more organized so I can call my house a home where I feel relaxed. What do you want to feel at the end of the year? More peaceful, more financially stable, more confident, or being in a good shape?
If you aren’t sure what habits will give you those results, check out good new year goals where I have talked about developing habits this year instead of writing generic goals.
6) What limiting beliefs do I want to leave behind?
We develop our beliefs from our surroundings, if we see our parents arguing or struggling for money, we might develop a belief that making money is hard and it’s evil.
It’s just an example, see what limiting belief is holding you back. And if you think you need to develop a money mindset, check out 10 journal prompts for doing so.
Here are also 10 limiting beliefs and how to overcome them.
7) What does success look like to me in 12 months?
Success is pretty subjective. Maybe you are in a stage of your life where success means buying a house for you or it could also mean getting into a dream college or moving into a different country and starting a new life? It could be anything. But knowing what you want gives you a good idea so you can move forward and work on it.
8) What’s one thing I want to let go of from last year?
There are sometimes some things stuck with us that may not necessarily be a habit but like a failure that gives us a hard time to let go of. It stuck with us. It makes us feel like we won’t be able to achieve anything good ever again. If that’s something you are facing, check out how to overcome failure.
9) Who are the people I want to spend more time with this year?
Have you ever felt that some people drain your energy even when they are family but there are some good friends that support you in hard times.
Reflect on the people who uplift and support you. Think about who you want to connect with more frequently and avoid the ones who aren’t good for mental wellbeing.
10) How can I create balance between work, health, and play this year?
We are not on the planet to just stay busy at work. We need to also spend time with people you care about and enjoy your own life. This one is from my journal prompts and I am working on it this year.
I will also share a few posts on this topic as I will move forward and learn more.
