Why Do You Need ME Time & Why Summer Is The Best Season For It

Have you ever wondered why do you need ME time? Growing up, I always found it difficult to make friends in school, as a teen and even in college, especially the friends I would go out with every weekend, share everything and sometimes gossip like many people seem to do.

Even though I have some friends I’ve been close to for over a decade now, not having many friends growing up made me spend most of my time with myself.

And it made me realize why it was important for me, why I am grateful for it and why I feel that even if you have many friends, you should spend some time with yourself whenever possible.

And this isn’t even just about friendships, it’s equally applied in family and romantic relationships too.

Spending time with your own self makes you a self-dependent person. If you are ever left out by anyone, it gets easier for you to rely on yourself and you won’t feel left out and lonely.

If it wasn’t for my early experience, I guess I would still face these challenges and wouldn’t care about spending my me time.

If you can relate to me or are facing any such situations now, I think it’s your sign to start having your me time intentionally and exactly how you can start doing it this summer.

Because at the end of the day, it isn’t just about having some FREE time, there is more to that.

Why Do You Need ME Time & The Benefits I Have Seen By Spending My ME Time

– I got challenged to problems and somehow learned how to tackle them myself (like when you are alone traveling, there are many challenges you get and you learn about how to solve them without reaching out to anyone in the moment).

– You get to know about yourself. (Like things you wouldn’t be able to discover about yourself and it could be different for everyone).

– You are the sole decision maker and there is no one to influence your decision. (I love this).

– If you ever go to a place like a restaurant by yourself you can order anything and whatever you want, eat at your own pace and have some peaceful time. (I love it too) Even though it may sound daunting at first, you get used to it if you do it again and again, I promise.

– When you spend your me time, you get new ideas because your brain is able to process information and is free to generate something new and unique. (I know because many of my posts are ideas I get when I sit alone).

– It somehow makes you a confident person and I think you are more likely to face hard situations much more easily. (because those are inevitable).

– While you could practice your hobbies with friends, if your friends don’t share the similar interest as you, spending your ME time means you could get out of your comfort zone and practice them yourself which is great.

PS: My “me” time somehow led me to the blogging world, none of my friends or even family understands what blogging is and if you can do anything like this as a full time job.

Most people think when it comes to “me” time, you have to spend time just with yourself and yes it’s true but I think sometimes it is also about spending this time with people who you never met before and who share the same interest as you do.

Why I Think Summer Is The Best Season For It

1) Longer And Friendly Days To Spend Time Outdoors

If you are tired of spending indoor time in the cold, it’s time to change that. You could start a hobby that motivates you to get outside.

Most people prefer to go on a solo trip (Me included) and that’s a great idea but if you could NOT go anywhere, do what you can

For example: Go to your favorite restaurant or cinema by yourself.

Make a habit of getting some sunshine (to improve your mood) and a little walk everyday.

Play any sports or join a dance class if you can.

Here are the 100 solo date ideas to choose from. and how to make the most of your solo date.

PS: When you make even the slightest change, write that in a journal to remind yourself that you are making a change. It really helps. It helps you to push yourself to take more actions.

Some Other Ways I Like To Spend MY “Me” Time

I like to spend my “me” time so I can build something meaningful and if you are anything like me, you could try doing any of these activities this summer as well:

1) Build any skill and feel secure in yourself financially. (Takes time but it could be a great long term goal).

2) Read books to get a new perspective (while I love self help books and manifestations books a lot, there are many genres like horror, romance, etc to check out).

PS: Whatever you choose to do, please make sure that you do it with your focus and enjoy it. Afterall, you are doing it for YOU
