Are you someone who often struggles to get proper sleep or maybe you are one of them who gets really exhausted after working a lot in the office and looking for effective and relaxing activities before bed to improve your nighttime routine before bed?
There’s no doubt that nighttime is the perfect time to practice some self-care that can help you get ready and excited for the next day.
I know its obvious for all of us to brush our teeth before going to bed, but there are few other basic yet very effective and relaxing activities you can do without spending a lot of time.
So, in today’s post, I am going to share my favorite relaxing activities you can try before going to bed.
10 relaxing activities before bed to fall asleep fast
Write what you are grateful for.
Is there anything that you are grateful for today? We all have something to be grateful for but you dont have to write a lot of things. Even one is a good start. However, you can write as much as you want. It feels so great and satisfying when you start practicing it.
There are also many psychological benefits of practicing gratitude that you can check out here.
Read a Self-growth book
This is one of my favorite things to do before sleeping that also help me relax.
Reading a good book really helps to calm your mind and you get to learn something interesting and new.
Although you can do this anytime during the day but if you can’t for some reason, then reading before bed can be a good idea.

Avoid caffeine before bedtime
Consuming caffeine is good in the morning when you want to keep yourself up for work, but at night it will do more harm to your body than good.
Our body absorbs caffeine within 30 to 60 minutes after consumption and blocks Adenosine (the chemical that promotes sleep).
Taking caffeine right before going to bed means your sleep will be disrupted for at least the next few hours. So always try to avoid it before bed.
Follow skin-care routine
Having a skincare routine before you sleep is a must as it removes all the dust and impurities from your skin and makes it healthy and refreshing. This step doesnt have to be fancy and time-consuming.
Try to keep it as simple as you can and never forget to remove your makeup.
This is also a good time to try different kinds of products that you can’t use in the morning because you’re in a rush. I personally love applying sheet masks before bed as it helps absorb all the nutrients while I’m sleeping.
Practice yoga
Practicing yoga before bedtime has many benefits, which include getting deep sleep, improving posture, and relieving stress. You dont have to have a lot of time for it.
It’s okay even if you’re just starting out, grab your yoga mat and start doing it for 5 minutes.

Take a warm bath
This step is especially good if you want your body to feel refreshed.
Taking a warm bath helps you sleep faster and then you dont have to spend hours turning and tossing anymore after following this step.
Also, if you are like me who is always in a hurry in the morning and doesn’t have much time to do exfoliations (I love using Himalayan salt body scrub) and all those stuff, nighttime is the perfect time to do them all.
Avoid going to bed right after bathing, let your body cool down first.
Write the next days to-do list
What is something that excites you for tomorrow?
To write down your goals, you can either choose any digital app such as Trello or if you prefer a physical pen and paper thing, To-Do list planners can do the job perfectly.
It’s totally your choice and whatever you prefer. I personally love writing down everything instead of using digital apps but nothing wrong with that if you prefer.
writing things down is so important as you now have a clear goal to achieve and at the same time you don’t have to keep everything in your mind.
Again, I would not suggest that you write more than 3 tasks as doing 3 things with a focused mind and dedication is far better than try-to-complete 10 things without providing any value. As they say, focus on quality over quantity.
Dont eat Right before going to bed
It used to be me. Now I make sure to eat at least 3 hours before bed. This habit of mine has improved my digestion and sleeping quality a lot.
And if you love to eat at night while watching your favorite tv shows, I’d say that if you do it once in a while is absolutely okay but other than that try to avoid it as much as you can, especially if you want to get proper sleep and wake up refreshed in the morning.
Decide your outfit and breakfast for tomorrow
This one can be a huge timesaver and you definitely wont feel frustrated when youll rush the next morning.
In a similar way, you can decide your meal to eat for breakfast so you dont have to think about it when you wake up the next day. Trust me, you won’t regret it once you start following it.
Listen to a podcast
Last but definitely not least, if you are the one who doesn’t really enjoy reading a book, I recommend listening to a podcast instead.
Listening to a podcast is a great way to learn something new (like a book). You can do this while taking a bath.
Conclusion
Who doesn’t want to get proper sleep? We all do. And it feels so satisfying knowing that some of your morning work, which sometimes feels so hectic, has been completed before you even sleep. This definitely helps you stay fresh when you’ll wake up tomorrow as you’ll have fewer tasks to do.
